Berlin's Bubble Tea Explosion

Bubble tea is a Taiwanese drink that contains tea mixed with fruit and/or milk. Most bubble tea contains small chewy balls made of tapioca. I first noticed bubble tea while living in San Francisco. It was a novelty drink that I would occasionally buy. It's very sweet. It can contain as many as 300 calories per drink depending on the ingredients. It's definitely not for the diet conscious!

Last year, I saw a bubble tea shop near my apartment in Berlin. Wow, I thought. Bubble tea has made it to Berlin. (Talk about globalization!) I gave the shop a try, but quickly forgot about it.

During my my absence from Berlin, there's been a bubble tea explosion. There are shops selling bubble tea everywhere. Apparently, bubble tea is a hit.

I decided to take a short walk in the neighborhood and photograph bubble tea venues. This is what I came up with.
