"Dark Shadows" Kommt aus Berlin

Before there was Twilight, True Blood, or the Vampire Diaries, there was Dark Shadows. Tim Burton's version of Dark Shadows, starring Johnny Depp, opens across Germany today.

Based on the Gothic TV soap opera from the 1960/70s, Dark Shadows is a TV camp classic and is available on Netflix. The eerie music, ludicrous plot lines, and over the top acting, made Dark Shadows hilarious, but also a bit frightening.

Dark Shadows took place in the fictional town of Collinsport, Maine, and involved vampires, witches, and time travel. Barnabas Collins, played by the late Jonathan Frid, was the sympathetic vampire unable to contain his taste for blood.

As a child, I remember running home from school to watch the latest episode of Dark Shadows. (As I recall, it started at 3:30.) At one point, I even pretended to be a vampire victim by using my mother's eyebrow liner to paint fang marks on my neck.
