Cataract Gorge Tasmania

Cataract Gorge

Launceston, Tasmania is one of those walkable cities we can only dream about in the USA. It's a city filled with wonderful restaurants, well-maintained Victorian homes, and a leisurely paced lifestyle. But Launceston's true claim to fame is Cataract Gorge, a wilderness area just minutes from downtown. Surrounded by a wildlife reserve, the Gorge has stunning vertical cliffs that plunge to the banks of the South Esk River. Photos can't capture the Gorge because it surrounds you.
