This past winter was particularly harsh, and it took its toll on a number of bird species including the Oriole. The Oriole is a beautiful bird with yellow markings and a flute-like song. I've noticed a couple Orioles in our yard this year, and I've tried to make them feel at home by offering them the right kinds of food. In the wild they like wasps (yes!) and mealworms, but Orioles also have a strong sweet tooth. Laying out certain types of kitchen scraps such as sliced oranges, grapes, bananas, peas, and even jams/jellies will attract Orioles and provide nourishment.
